BP Artist Feature: Julia Coccia

Meet Julia, one of our studio artists at Brainstorm Productions! She graduated from California State University, Long Beach in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities. Julia is an enthusiast for birds, Sonic, The Amazing Digital Circus, and her lifelong passion of being an artist (no questions asked).

As one of the directors on Dreams Vol. 2, Julia is currently working on her short film “Drawn to the Stars”. The short film centers on an artist who goes on a cosmic journey to face her imperfections as her masterpieces come to life. Julia spoke about imperfections being a part of every creative person’s art journey, and wanting to visualize that concept in an abstract way. She added, amusedly, that the irony of making the film was wanting everything to be perfect. “In reality, nobody is perfect.” Julia said. She hopes it strikes an emotional cord with people who put their self-worth in perfection, and looks forward to sharing her film.

Julia credits the program for giving her opportunities to pursue her dream, and looks forward to more projects, within and beyond the studio. When asked what her biggest achievement since joining the program was, Julia stated it was designing the book cover for author Lisa Jacovsky’s “Mystery of the Vanishing Fish”. She said it was a major step for her to realize how far she’d come along in her art journey.

Outside of the studio, Julia recently made a milestone achievement as a main background artist on the trailer for “The Amazing Digital Wonderland”, a fan project dedicated to the animated web series The Amazing Digital Circus. The trailer was a massive success on Youtube, garnering over 1 million views. You can check out the trailer with Julia's backgrounds here.
